Overview
On our half day tour we stay within 12 miles of Letterkenny, Donegal’s largest town beginning with the glorious St.Eunan’s Cathedral built in 1901. We take a short drive to Gartan Lough with the Glebe House & Gallery on its shores. Visitors can explore the gardens and enjoy the fabulous collection and home of artist Derek Hill.
After morning break in the tea rooms here, just one mile away is the birthplace of Donegal’s most famous son Colmcille. Explore a holy well, healing stone and Celtic cross with breathtaking views over three loughs and the Colmcille Heritage Centre. Next stop visitors take in Donegal’s industrial heritage at Newmills Flax & Cornmills with Ireland’s largest working water wheel. We finish with lunch at 17th century property, the luxurious Rockhill Estate and gardens with fascinating history & guided tour.
